I read this cause it kept popping up on my Amazon recommended list and based on all the reviews, it looked like everyone else loved it. I thought Oh cool... a new Urban Fantasy author to read. But the reality was oh... just another Paranormal Romance.

The didn't ever really like the heroine. I thought she was a little too wishy-washy. Someone said she had the unfortunate habit of sounding a lot like Eliza Dushku's Faith. I didn't see that. If she had been more like Faith, maybe I would have liked the book more! I couldn't see Faith pining away for a guy who lived in her basement for 6 years.

It wasn't a BAD book, but it definitely wasn't a 5-star OMG I love it book.

Based on the distinction between Paranormal Romance genre and Urban Fantasy, this is not Urban Fantasy... this is Paranormal Romance. If you like Paranormal Romance, you'll probably like this book. I prefer Urban Fantasy, hold the romance.

This whole PNR/UF category thing is not that difficult. I wish people would just say HEY THIS IS A ROMANCE in an Urban Fantasy world. Yes, some people might not read it because it's labeled PNR, but others might because they WANT to read PNR.

Does this drive anyone else crazy too?? Rating: 3 / 5

I enjoyed reading this book, it had an interesting plot and some fun characters. I will keep an eye out for this authors next book. I think it is a nice start to an author I think can get even better.

But I could put the book down and do something else without wondering what would happen in the book next. Rating: 4 / 5

I tried my best to read this slowly and savor it, but I tore through it anyway. The writing is fun, the characters are interesting, and the world is involved enough that I hope there is more where this came from.Rating: 5 / 5

It was the innocence of idle affluent youth, but Allie and her friends conjured up an entrance to and from hell in the basement of Sally's Diner in Brooklyn. Feeling responsible but unsure how to close the portal permanently, Allie works at the diner feeding customers and insuring they are not on the menu of some beast as a snack.

Over the past six years since her folly, Allie has fought demons and argued with hunters. The one that frightens her the most is Ryan who blithely moved into the basement. Her door to hell vanishes, and other portals open and close throughout the city. Ryan and Allie finally stop bickering to team up to take the war into hell before hell takes it to earth.

Though urban romantic fantasy has flooded the market especially starring women turning from social deb to superheroine, fans will enjoy the latest entrant and her adventures in Brooklyn as she may not prove a tree grows in the largest borough, but demons do. Allie's war with Ryan the hunter provides humorous asides to the fight they make to keep paranormal evil off the streets of the city. The couple turns Anna Katherine's super entry into the subgenre into a fun thriller.

This has been a pretty good month of reading for me. I have been pleasantly surprised by several urban fantasy/paranormal novels this month. I didn't think I would find anything as good as "Viscious Circle" for awhile. Yet "Salt and Silver" was even better! I was impressed and drawn in by EVERYTHING in this first novel by Anna Katherine. By page 120, I was online tryiing to make sure there would be a sequel. Allie is an ex-spoiled rich girl, who now runs a little diner. Its not just any old diner, but one that houses a door to Hell in the basement. Along with a portal to Hell, the diner gets its very own demon hunter, Ryan. For six years sexual tension has been building up between the two, alongside a deep friendship. Ryan is protective of Allie and teaches her some basics of demon hunting. Emotionally, though, he still keeps her at arms legnth. The tension and back story for Ray and Allie made it very easy to want these two together. So often in books I wonder about what drew the hero and heroine together. In "Salt and Silver" you can literally feel the pull between the two as the come togeteher and try to resolve what is going on between them. Allie has a very unique 'voice'. For the first chapter or so I wondered how I felt about it because it stood out as being so different. We are privy to her words, thoughts, feelings. The authors aren't shy about being very clear on how Allie feels about something and the writing was done craftily enough that it was very easy to feel empathy for her. The romance between Ryan and Allie is a well done subplot to the story and this book in my opinion is far from a paranormal romance. The central plot is very strong and compelling. When the door to hell in the diner suddenly disappears, Ryan and Allie find themselves planning a trip through the realms of Hell in their attempt to save the world. This was so different than anything I have read before and I have to give the authors kudos for a job well done here as well. Probably just shy of half the book tells of that trip through the underworld. Ryan and Allie have to face their fears and in the process they learn a lot more about each other, and more importantly themselves. I can't say enough good things about this book and yet I am hesitant to say any more. I want everyone to be as delighted and surprised by this book as I was. Read this now!Rating: 5 / 5

We just returned from a cruise on the Baltic Sea. We hoped this clock would automatically change the time zones as we had to do it frequently. We were near Germany, so we hoped it would pick up a signal from there. When we arrived home it didn't even set to the local time here. And it's difficult to set the time manually. So we were very disappointed in Seiko a brand we thought we could depend on. So I would not count on an atomic clock to do the job for you.Rating: 1 / 5

I purchased this travel alarm to use while traveling through China and South Korea. Not once did the time change to the correct local time - and that's why I purchased it. It won't even change when I travel from the central time zone to mountain. The clock is much too large for a travel alarm (about twice the size of my 20 year old Seiko.) The only bonus is the fact that the clock batteries are inexpensive. Oh, did I mention that the alarm is not loud enough to wake me?Rating: 2 / 5

This product is not easy to use! I'am not able to have this clock pick up a signal, despite placing it next to a clock that picks up the same signal.! After many tries and moving it all over the house it still can not find the signal! I have two (2)other brands that can.

The directions are poorly written and are very confusing. The product is going back to Amazon. I've used many electronic clocks and this is by far the worst.
OK......After Some work I got the clock to work. The trouble was that it came with the radio signal turned off and when I figured that out it works great. 4 stars

The clock does everything an atomic clock should do except that it refuses to change time zones. Five request to Seiko customer service has failed to get a response...some customer service.

If I could return it, I would but it was beyond the warrenty period when I first traveled to a different time zone only to find it malfunctioning.

Anyone have any luck getting this beast to change time zones?Rating: 2 / 5

This small, light travel alarm carries a shipping weight of 7 lbs! Could be a typo or could be a way for the seller to jack up the price. Either way, shame on Amazon for not polcing its marketplace better.Rating: 1 / 5
